How to Join LPR

Become A Member

To qualify for REALTOR® membership you must be a Broker-in-Charge (BIC), Appraiser, or be affiliated with a BIC. You must also have a valid North Carolina Real Estate or Appraisal license.

Determine Membership Type & Required Forms

You may join LPR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and affiliated with a Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge who is a member of LPR.

An individual is considered a PRIMARY member if payment of state and national dues is through LPR. You may only join as a Primary member if your Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge is a member of LPR (either Primary or Secondary).

You must also be engaged actively in the real estate profession. This includes buying, selling, exchanging, renting or leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, counseling, or building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of North Carolina or a state contiguous thereto.

Required Forms:

You may join LPR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and have been designated the Broker In Charge of an office.

The Designated REALTOR®/BIC must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm’s principal.

This individual shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership including the obligation to arbitrate pursuant to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics and the payment of Association dues as established in Article X, of the Bylaws and must meet all other qualifications for REALTOR® Membership established in Article V, Section 2, of the Bylaws.

Secondary Members pay their state and national dues through another Association/Board.

Required Forms:

Secondary REALTOR® Membership Application

Letter of Good Standing from Primary Association/Board

You may join the LPR MLS and NOT become a member of LPR as long as you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and a member of another Board/Association. MLS Access is granted to Participants (DR/BICs) first, then to Subscribers(agents/licensees). MLS Only REALTOR® members may ONLY have access to the MLS if their DR/BIC has access to the LPR MLS.

Remember, with membership comes discounts – including MLS monthly fees!

Complete Required Training – For REALTOR® membership

You will be notified via email after your application has been processed. Included in that email will be the optional dates of the mandatory New Member Orientation and Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training requirements.

What is a New Member Orientation course?

It is an in-person or online course, that all new applicants to the Longleaf Pine REALTORS® are required to take before being approved for REALTOR® membership.

Do I Need to attend this Orientation course?

Yes, if you are a new applicant and have never been a member of the Longleaf Pine REALTORS®.  No, if you were a past member of the Longleaf Pine REALTORS® and have taken the Orientation Course sometime in the past or if you were an active member of any other Realtor Association.

How does it Benefit me?

It fulfills Association membership requirements.  It educates you on the Longleaf Pine REALTORS® Bylaws, MLS Rules and Regulations, and the Code of Ethics.  The course also satisfies the National Association of REALTORS® requirement of a Code of Ethics class to be taken once every three year period (the current 3 year period is January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027).

When do I need to take this Orientation course?

The Orientation Course is offered every month.  The Orientation course is required within the first 60 days of joining the association. If it has not been completed within this time frame you will lose your MLS and Supra access and are liable to be terminated from the association altogether.

When and how will I know when the course is being offered?

Longleaf Pine REALTORS® will email a letter to all applicants needing the Indoctrination/Orientation Course. This letter informs you of the date and time that the class will take place. It will also include instructions for taking the course online.
