Major Economic Win For Sanford

The City of Sanford Announced today that Caterpiller Inc. will invest $1 billion to construct a new manufacturing facility.

What do we know?

• 1,950 jobs will be created
• Average wage $65,528
• Manufacturing of Cat Compact business – track loaders, telehandlers, landscaping, agriculture and material handling
• Last may, Caterpiller announced a major expansion to it’s existing plant that will add another 600 jobs at the Womack Road plant
• Lee County and City of Sanford approved a combined 80.5 million in incentives
• The facility has been described by the Sanford Area Growth Alliance’s CEO Jimmy Randolph as “state-of-art advanced manufacturing facility”
