City of Raeford & Hoke County Updates
City of Raeford
The City of Raeford denied a rezoning for 39 townhomes. The rezoning is located on South Vass Road/North of Main Street. The rezoning was tabled in March. The property is 6.5 acres and the request from J & K Development is to rezone from R12 residential to RMF residential multi-family. The property is also situated in a ETJ (extra territorial jurisdiction).
Various residents addressed council in opposition to the rezoning.
City Council member Wayne Willis spoke to say “There are times when changing in zoning is maybe a good thing to do, but in this case, I agree with the speakers. It is an area that’s already crowded, the traffic issue is definitely concerning. One of the things I ran on was controlled growth. And with that, I will make
a motion that we deny the rezoning and stay with the 12 that is currently zoned.”
Hoke County

Hoke County Commissioners approved a bid for work that will expand sewer service at the Hoke County Industrial Park due to the Pennsylvania Transformer Technology Project “Orion.” The bid was awarded to J & K Developers. The sewer project will serve several surrounding parcels.
