Public Works Commission to Raise Rates
PWC Board of Commissioners unanimously voted this week to raise sewer and water rates by 10.9%. The raise in rates will take place over a two year period.
The meeting was a scheduled public comment and three people were in attendance and asked for a delay in the rate increase. There were also several written comments.
According to the PWC press release – PWC provides 10.8 billion gallons of clean drinking water and treats over 9.2 billion gallons of wastewater annually. The funds collected are reinvested into an extensive network of 2,825 miles of water and wastewater pipes and support the operational costs for providing essential water and wastewater services.

- May 1st 2025- water increase $1.25
- May 1st 2025- sewer increase $2.00
- May 1st 2026 – another increase of $1.25
- May 1st 2026 – another increase of $2.00
Reasons for rate increase from PWC:
- increase in cost of sustainability of maintaining the water & sewer systems
- PFAS – construction of filtration plants (Granular Activated Carbon system that will be used to address PFAS)
- Annexation cost
- Rockfish sewer plant
