Cumberland County Planning Department is in the Process of Drafting the Hope Mills Land Use Plan

January 7, 2026

The Cumberland County Planning department is underway drafting a new Hope Mills Land Use Plan to guide future growth and development. A land use plan cannot change the current us of a property nor change the current zoning. The plan cannot change the value of a property or the amount of property tax owed on the property.

WHAT IS A LAND USE PLAN?

A land use plan is a long-range planning document referenced by local leadership to guide future land use decisions. The plan is only a guiding document and does not hold statutory weight when it comes to the decision making of local leaders and the general public.
